Training & Nutrition - Beer is evil

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Last month I decided to cut beer out of my diet in preperation for an upcoming team Duathlon. I have not been riding any more miles or doing any more exercising than usual. My diet has also remained exactly the same. In 4 weeks, I have lost 10 pounds.

10 pounds in 4 weeks ???? you were a heavy drinker !
I've cut beer too and manage to loose 3 pounds in 2 weeks. yes, I drink a lot of beer.
I need to loose two more pounds before the end of the month
I am with you OP. If I cut out beer I drop 10 pounds in a month and a half. If I replace it with wine I only lose 5.
I miss it though. Damn Microbrews and their highly caloric nectar!!

Yeah, I did love my beer. I really don't miss it though. The results outweigh any cravings for a beer.

just highlights the fact that most people with weight to lose are only usually out of balance by about 100 calories a day. One (good) beer is going to be more than that.

Agreed. Research shows (http://www.backpacker.com/beer_hydrate_water/blogs/daily_dirt/1074?utm_source=newsletter01&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter01) that beer hydrates better than water!

I love beer and exercise hard so I can keep drinking it without looking like I do. I'd sooner give up ice cream.

That's odd ... I always understood he was a Deist as an adult; while he did not participate in organized religion, his belief in God was fundamental to his beliefs/actions.
Not that I care one way or the other.
