Hey everyone,
With the help of my supportive husband, I have begun riding a bike again after a long hiatus due to a fall when I was a kid. It has taken a few months to get comfortable on the bike, and I still have some handling issues, occasional freak outs when the wind gusts at certain angles, or I hit a bump I'm not ready for, but otherwise I am doing well and enjoying riding again.
My last bike, a Trek fx 7.3 WSD which I loved, was stolen when my son and his friends neglected it in a driveway. With some patience and determination, my husband found me a great Specialized WSD road bike with all kinds of goodies (nice components). Before my Trek was stolen I had been hoping to do the Austin Danskin in early June, but my lack of motivation in the frigid Texas winter (kidding, I'm originally from WI:)) and the time it took to get a new bike and get myself comfortable riding it has pushed my triathlon goals to sometime in the future.
I look forward to reading these forums and learning what I can about bicycling, even sharing any experience I may attain in my own adventures. I especially look forward to getting access to the women's forum so I can share my saddle woes as I have tried many many saddles (another just arrived in the mail only hours ago) and still am looking for "the one". Until then, I will scavenge the forums I do have access to and see what I can find on the subject.
Happy Riding! :)
