Someone a bit tall, maybe 5'10" to 6'2", would probably be most comfortable.

edit: Yes, probably not good for the 5'10" guy if it is for hard core mtn. biking. I just assumed you meant street riding/commuting.

That's actually a very tall bike for someone 6' with a long inseam or more like 6'2"

I am 5'8" almost 5"9" and ride a 17.

edited to add: I didn't catch the 29er (thanks Beanz) - that makes the bike really tall (remember wheel is bigger, you will have less top tube clearance) for someone 6'2" and above

Example: I am helping a bud buy a bike - his choice is a 20" 29er or a 22" 26" wheel. My friend is 6'3".

I'm not familiar with 29'ers or how it would affect the fit but my mtb is a 19.5 and I am 6'1. That's a being a good fit for offroading where a ride wants enough clearance between the crotch and bike for bumpy terrain.

If you plan on riding smooth pavement, then a little larger frame may not be as important a fit as using the bike for it's intended use.:D

My guess would be that a 21 incher fits a 6'1-6'3 rider.

Take your question over here. http://forums.mtbr.com/forumdisplay.php?f=61

They will either answer you or chew you up and spit you out. Be prepared;)

I am 5'10" and I ride a 19" 29r and it is perfect for me.

I am 5-11 and have an 18 inch mtb. I could probably handle a 19 inch.

I am 5'9" and ride a 19" Jamis Exile (hardtail mountain bike). I commute on it though (sometimes) so I have no idea what or how it would react in the mountains. A bike the size you mentioned would probably be right for someone 6' to maybe 6'3" I'd say.

My suggestion would be to ride it to see how it feels. The mountain bikers at my LBS like mountain bikes a little on the small side. However the owner likes his cyclocross a little on the large size (though he also commutes on it as well as takes it on trails). What I am saying is were a little all over the place ourselves :D.
