Pacific Northwest - Forget New York- Seattle Is Bike City!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

How many people love the hills of Seattle, the challenge of rising higher, the thrill of coming back down and the beauty that seems to go on forever? I love this place.

You should come ride with the Seattle Randonneurs (http://www.seattlerandonneur.org/)if you want to really get a taste of riding everywhere you possibly can in the area.
We love our hills, and find routes that take us through everything from downtown city streets (Big Time Urban Populaire) to out in the middle of nothing (Spring 2009 400k which started in Ephrata and went over Loup Loup).

...you don't need to be in a club to get a taste of riding the greater Northwest....
but for city riding (which I think the OP is referring to)
LOVE IT! Spotting 3 volcanoes on a clear day, the panoramic views of the Cascades and the visually stunning Olympics, sunset on the sound while looping West Seattle or the Golden Gardens ride. Burke Gilman cruising, the Magnolia vistas, streets that all seem to point right at the space needle, 50 mph in the city descents (Innes Arden by SCC, Highland Park in West Seattle).
Seattles a pretty dang senic place to ride.

Sounds excellent, but to be humble it just might be too much for me. I like the solo ride because it is "my ride."

Riding with SIR has been on my to-do list all year. I joined RUSA, sent in my SIR forms, but just wasn't ready for the 200k in March. Luckily the summer series is starting soon and I will get to ride a brevet soon enough.

I sometimes can't believe I ever gave it up and moved back here to Brooklyn.

Well let me say one thing- NY is the greatest city in the world. Also, it has the best urban riding in the world. I did not mean to put NY down; I think it is an awesome place, I just wanted to find other Seattle enthusiasts.
