I just learned a new disc brake trick on Wednesday. Fold a business card over the rotor and insert it between the pads. Loosen the caliper and get it centered with the card in place. Squeeze the brakes closed and tighten the caliper. The brake pads should be perfectly centered and squeezing the caliper prevents it from moving while you tighten the bolts.
