recently purchased a mixte frame and am having issues with the rear brake. the rear brake is positioned lower on the bike since the cables have to run on the lower tubing rather than across the top tube. problem is that my foot keeps hitting the side pull brake on the upstroke. is there a way to fix this? the mixte frame is drilled for a rear brake twice and has holes for the regular placement on a male road bike. doesnt look like it would look very clean if i fixed it that way though... any suggestions?

Just take it off. It doesn't do much anyway. The front brake does almost all the work of stopping a speeding bike, not that a mixte frame is solid enough to feel comfortable speeding on.
