HERE IS MY RIDE RE-CAP (for the bored amongst you)
The Terrible Two is a great ride. The organization is just perfect, with great food and anything you could want or need on a ride like this. My time total was 14h 20m, with 12h 45m in the saddle, and 1h 13m of breaks (approx) along with a 22m mechanical problem (flat). Lunch was at mile 110 and it took me 7h 15m to get there (including the mechanical) and the last 90 miles took me 6h 35m. I took a leisurely 30m lunch break.

It was frustrating at mile 43 to get a flat (I hit a pretty big rock that I did not see as I was at the front of a fast-flying group and must have been looking further down the road). I had 2 spares, one of them used. The used one had a bent valve and I could not get air in it. Then I broke the valve trying to bend it straight. I get out my second tube and it is brand new. I can't get air in it. I am beginning to think my pump is broken but it is able to inflate the original flat tube. It turns out the new tube had a defective valve. Meanwhile, the riders are flying by and no SAG vehicle in sight. Finally, some nice women going opposite direction (I was on their side of the road since there was room over there) asked if I needed help and I said, "Yes" and they gave me a tube. Thanks, ladies. That got me started and then the SAG vehicle showed up, which helped because I got a real pump and a spare tube, too. Thankfully, there was no other problems.

To me, the worst part of the ride was Skaggs Springs. It just goes on and on. We were lucky to have cloud cover (cloudy in Geyserville, sunny on the coast, just really ideal weather) but the sun did peak through here and there. There was a point where my feet began to ache, I had pain in my upper back between my shoulder blades, and I am just plodding along, climbing, in a hypnotic state. I almost nodded off! I am not sure if I was beginning to sleep or faint. I thought, wow, these next 70 miles are going to be very hard and painful. But I got to the rest stop, took the shoes off, took some Ibuprofen and had no more pain or issues the rest of the way.

I have some photos, nothing special. It was a day for business, not picture taking. The food gets highlighted because it was really right.
