Hello,

My first triathlon is tomorrow. I am just wondering what I should bring with me to the race.
It is a sprint tri (600yd swim, 15 mile ride, 5k run).

Obviously I need to bring my:
bike
socks
shoes (running and cycling)
jersey for after the swim
towel
wet suit (hopefully it will be allowed, water is really close to max temp today)
helmet
sunglasses
water bottles
race packet w/number, swim cap etc.

I think I am going to carry a tube and pump in my jersey pocket. It would suck to not finish because of a flat.

What am I forgetting? I'm sure there is something obvious.

yikes!! just saw you didn't get any answers :( let us know how it went- did you have everything?

didn't see goggles on your list ;) i'd recommend bringing 2 pairs if you have em- one is usually bound to malfunction (at least for me)

I found a checklist on another site. I actually had everything on most of the lists I found.

It went well. I finished in 1 hour 41 min. I predicted 1:45, so I was pretty pleased. I probably could have gotten under 1:40 if my transitions had gone faster, but it was my first time, so I can definitely improve.

No offense, but I would suggest, for next time, not waiting until the night before to try and figure out what to bring....

I didn't really wait until the day before. I actually had a bag packed, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything that a newbie could miss.

one good suggestion i got at my first triathlon is to take a small, plastic tub and a couple 2L water bottles. empty the water into the tub before the race, so when you get to your bike you can give your feet a quick rinse before putting them in the shoes (or socks).

ehhh the bike Jersey "after the swim" does not sound too good to me. Good way to improve transition time. I learned that one the hard way. Try putting it on under your wetsuit or getting a tri-specific top.

or if you can get away from it forget a jersey altogether it will keep you cooler. i observed most of the guys that wore one piece tri suits coming in with them unzipped and pulled down. i myself plan to do my first tri in skin.

Jersey over the tri suit, for me, depends on the weather and the distance. If it is not super hot out, and a half or longer, I throw the jersey on, and put my nutrition in the jersey pockets. Oly or shorter, I just use the tri suit.

If I get warm, I can mostly unzip the jersey. However, the jersey provides more sun protection than my tri suit, and I get sunburnt on anything longer than an oly, even if I lather on sunscreen.
