Bicycle Mechanics - shocks dont work....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just bought a supercycle hooligan....it has those down hill shocks in the front ... they dont really work that good... is there anyway i can loosen them so they work better? I really have to slam the bike down to get any movement out of them.... Any help would be appreciated... they are Mercalli Shocks by the way :( : ( !!!
There should be a dial at the top of the each fork arm, turn both anti-clockwise to loosen the suspension setting.
CHEERS.

You mean when you're just pushing?
They're functioning fine if you have to push down hard to make em move. Otherwise they'll just bottom out with the tremendous forces generated when you land.
If I'm not mistaken thats a really generic department store bike, so I wouldn't expect them to work well if at all.

The bike is a piece of junk, you will never get the fork to feel good. (Or move at all)

Yeah, Supercycles are the Canadian Huffy. Sorry but I don't think the shocks will ever be very good. But ride what you have and enjoy if you can.

Here's four.
Learn to use English properly.
Don't buy Dual Suspension bikes under $1000.
You have a Canadian Tire boat anchor that wasn't designed to do even mild XC riding and hucked it.
Any decent shock is going to cost double what you paid for that pile.
You got what you paid for
This may sound harsh but it's the truth.

You two....
Supercycle hooligans take time to break in, and even less time to break. I hate hooligan riders just becuase the people that I know who got them are so obnoxious and say they cand o big things and I don'tdo those things on my bike because it's wimpy. Excuse me but all department store bikes suck. I know I have one, and I'm selling it! Just because I didn't want to die. Here's a news flash for you people -
LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH AND LEARN TO GET A BETTER BIKE.
Otherwise, you're hopeless.

the shock will always be stiff but that is what makes it such a good off-road bike. i own 3 and the worst i can do is dent and bend up the rims on some rocks.
