Charles....I going be a jerk and nit pic your ad.
1. Its too wordy. Anyone who knows what a Richard Sachs is knows what a Richard Sachs is. Year, frame size and tubing is all your need to say. Mention something about a repaint but leave it at that. Most people have no clue who 'Cycleart' is and wil home in on 'repaint and wonder what happened to it. Skip the history.
2. Your pics need work. Its a Richard Sachs!!! Peeps what to see lug work!! Take some 2mp pics and host them on Photobucket and then link the HTML inot your ad.
This is a nice clear concise ad: (bike is sold so dont y'all think I'm pimpin' my own ad)

Not in my opinion, based on (a) recent prices of Richard Sachs on eBay and (b) crappy photos.
When I see a high-priced bike with bad photos on CL I assume it's either (a) stolen or (b) owned by someone who has no clue what they own. I'm not saying yours is stolen, I'm just telling you as a (frequent) CL shopper that's what I think.
You asked for feedback, that's mine. It's not my size so I'm not trying to negotiate.

thanks I cut words and add better photos when I relist
+1. Way too many words. Really bad pics. A simple term like: "recently serviced, ready to ride, spotless" beats a component by component review of condition.
In my opinion, the purpose of a Craig List ad is to interest a potential buyer enough that they will come out and inspect the bike. The ad will not "sell" the bike, it is "selling" a come look at it visit. The in person inspection will be what sells the bike. So you are really just trying to attract some good potential buyers. It only takes a couple of people to look at it in person to sell a bike, if it is priced fairly and if they are real buyers. I think super pictures will be your best shot of doing that.
If you want to sell a really high dollar bike, then your ad needs to be dazzling. Jim has some great ads.
I use Flickr to host pictures. Forget about attaching pics through Craigs List.
Even on those pictures, the bike is in shadows.
+1 I would assume looking at those pics that there is something being hidden: frame damage, or whatever. If you are proud of the bike (and you should be), then you should have pictures that show it off in its full glory.
If you want full retail/full market pricing, then your marketing needs to be at the top as well.
Can you defend your pricing? If I was a potential buyer, I would ask you how you came up with the price. Just be ready for the questions, and if you are prepared, it can help close the deal. If you can show buyer printouts of recent ebay sales and why your bike is in better shape, that helps too.
You are in a high enough price category that I am not sure Craigs List (even in San Fran) is going to work.

Hmmm....just spotted the same bike for sale in Seattle:
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/1236488320.html
At least I think it's the same bike - I remember the crappy photos.
The OP's link above no longer works.
I guess he really did not want input.

He did....lets give him a little time to respond.
He may not subscribe to threads (I dont) and he may not log in every day. But, I am suspicious of the Seattle ad.

I'll vouch for Charles - he's a good guy. Can't say anything about either ad, though.
I'll also vouch for Charles and he did respond in post #5 above.

so would this imply someone ripped off his original photos to publish a fake ad in Seattle?
My comment about not taking input was likely wrong, particularly if his ad got ripped off.
Charles posted the original ad in San Francisco. I believe the Seattle ad is a rip off, happens all the
time.

Until Charles posts again we'll never know. He doesnt post often but I have communicated with him via PM/E-mail so he hasnt just disappeared. Its very possible someone ripped off his pics but then again its possible Charles is posting in multiple high value markets.
I'll respond to the Seattle ad with some good B.S. on my part....

Hi, I got a response from the Seattle Craigslist seller. I believe it's the same bike, and based on the information on the email I think it's the OP who started this thread.
So, real bike, available in California.
Well, he did cut a lot of the wording, which is a big plus. He still has the crappy pictures. And I would recommend to make sure the bike is complete and ready to ride in this price range (there is no chain on the bike in the pics).

Charles-
This is a tough one to set. I consider Bruce Gordon one of the builders who has really let his creativity loose later, this bike while arguably as structurally sound as a contemporary one does not stand out from the other great builders, like Eisentraut. Yes, details are not the same but it can beplaced in that "school" of finish.
I would if parts are around, place on a sleeker saddle, transfer to cloth tape, locate a set of tires or remove the front, and place a reserve on it that you feel is tolerable. The changes I have suggested will not enhace the comfort, just make it more like folk would consider what it looked lie when new.

Very good points. Presentation goes along way. What little money it'll take to get it presentable will easily be recouped with more bidders/potential buyers.

I saw that one, lots of nicks, and perhaps a bit later, as it has the assemetrical lug holes. It also suffers from poor shot selection.
