I'm really into mountain biking, but not into mechanics until recently. My friend has a Specialized with this lockdown fork. You turn the lock knob, and then push the shock down and it stays. Does anyone know which company or companies make this and the model info? Thanks.

You're looking for a fork with ETA. Or as RockShox calls it, U-turn. Many companies have this feature on forks, such as Marzocchi, Manitou, and RockShox just to name a few. ETA and U-turn forks generally cost more than regular forks, so just make sure you need this feature before you fork out extra cash for ETA/u-turn.

U-turn doesn't specifically mean lock-out. U-turn lets you get the fork down to like 80mm or up to 125 (on a Psylo). The three big companies (Manitou, RockShox, Marz) all make lock down forks though I believe.

Thanks for the clarity Mandan. Never realized that ETA and U-turn were different.

IF its a decent fork and its adjusted right you really shouldn't need a lockout. If you feel you absolutely do I would say get a stable platform shock like the Fox F80x or whatever it is that Manitou is selling these days... it locks out automatically basically so you are wasting your time or taking your hands off the bars to do it.

That's not true, because I'm an XC geek and I couldn't live without the Lockout on my F80 RLT. For the Freeriders and DH'ers it is fine to not have a lockout, but us weenies love ours. :p
