Bicycle Mechanics - two identified squeeks- solutions?

my bike has been making some annoying noises recently, i have identified where they are coming from, but im not sure how to fix them.

1) there is a rubber seal on the non-driveside of my rear hub. when the wheel is spinning the seal spinns with it, and squeeks. if i touch the seal while the wheel is spinning, i can stop it from turning, and the squeeking also stops.

2) the rear derailleur bottom pully (the sproket, jocky wheel, whatever the terminology) squeeks as it turns. what kind of lube should i use to stop it? i imediatly though to use a teflon based spray lube, but im not sure if this is a good idea. its an ultegra derailluer BTW.

how on earth do i solve these irritating noises?!

Identifying the source of a noise is more difficult than it appears. I have Ultegra's on two of my bikes - they have never once squeaked at me. Often times the sound, which sounds like it comes from A, is really coming from X instead. This may help you, or anyone:

for the rear der pulley I use standard bike grease (park lube) you can pick this up at any bike shop. just rebuild the pulley gear. there will be a bushing and two labyrinth seals. just grease the bushing up real good and install labyrinth seals. wipe off excess and break in with a few good miles (just ride it) as for the seal on the rear hub. make sure that your skewer tension is set properly. leaver should get tight about half way through its swing.

I wish I could say I had 2 squeaks!! granted I should maybe wash mine and some might go away!! hehe

these are definatly the sources of the two noises, i know this becuase i can manipulate them by hand to make them squeek.

Then I'd suggest overhauling the two jockey wheels as DARKSCOPE suggests. Once you have them packed with grease, see if your mice have retired. I got my two (3 - have one in reserve) Shimano Ultegra RD-6500 squeakless RD from here - and that price on their site is not a typo:

for the rubber seal, just drip some light lubricant (tri-flow is what I use, its also good for lubing pretty much any other moving portion of the bike) in between the seal and the wheel and that should take care of the squeaking. You could probably do the same thing with that pulley but the methods outlined before would be a better idea. I would also try to avoid spray lubricants simply because they have a tendancy to shoot lube in a lot of places you might not want it.
