Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - polo ?

Hi, I'm usually in the touring forum, but have an old fixed peug. I love riding around town.... Question... Polo ? anyone play ? is it a lot of track standing and "backwards" elusive pedaling... I'm not the most adept fixie rider, but it looks like fun.

Don't use a bike you care about for polo playing.

No need to trackstand or pedal backwards.

most people dont even used fixed gear bikes as thier polo bikes. use an old k-mart mountain bike if its ur first time. you're gonna crash a lot.

my polo bike is set up 35x22 single speed. I bought a smaller beater frame that I threw some various parts on.

Alot of people ride fixed, but I would say the majority ride single speed. Its all about what you are used too. You can be more maneuverable on a single speed (i.e. pedal strike)

If you are on the west coast you will probably be riding a mountain bike, if you are on the east coast, converted track or road frames.

There are a lot of people that play polo with freewheels. I find it harder to defend the goal on a freewheel, that is why I prefer fixed. There are a lot of good players that play freewheel though.
