Um.. just don't hook a brake up to it, that is what I did on my pista...

Are we talking a full blown brifter here? Can't answer that one, I did gut out a plain jane Shimano brake lever, was about a 2 minute operation.

You can either remove the lever or use a short piece of cable and bolt it in place. If you ride on your hoods mostly you might think about bull horns. Just get an old set of drops from your LBS flip them and chop them. Works great for me.

I locked my dummy lever solid to prevent lever rattle by simply screwing in dry wall screw from beneath the hood.

i actually prefer the look of jus one lever. i know, i know, i know there are soo many reasons to

You can hook both levers into one brake. I've done it with BMX before, shouldn't be too hard. Or... just take the brake off.

I know the fixie way is to rock bullhorns, but I like riding in the drops a lot and
I like the hoods for climbing. I don't really care about symmetry so much so
I don't mind if it looks all wack. These hills in SoCal have taught me humility.

I know, I know... its that stupid fixed gear gallery. all those bikes look awesome, but my back would be f-ed if I tried to ride a 60+ mile day no matter how much yoga I do.
