Bicycle Mechanics - Handlebar clamp diameter

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi, I have a 97 klein pulse pro bike with bontrager race straight handlebars. I want to put cruising handlebars on the bike. I cannot figure out what diameter handlebars will fit. Can anybody help?
Thanks a lot.
I would guess that the clamp diameter would be 25.4 mm only because that is the most common clamp size. If you don't have a caliper you could probably just take it to your local bike shop and have them measure everything out for you. You could also wrap a string around the handlebars to get the circumference, and then do the math to figure out what the diameter would be. That should give you a pretty good idea for the clamp diameter.
Will also probably be stamped somewhere on the bars.
for the ideas - all of them are good ones!
