Right now I have some piece of junk seat on my bike. I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations on something that is comfortable and offers good performance. I am looking at the Specialized Body Geometry saddles. I am also looking to buy a new cyclocomputer. I would like something with cadence but do I really need it. Any suggestions would be a big help. Thanks

saddles are really a personal thing. i'm sure if you do a search in this forum, you will
find plenty of recommendations.
same deal with computers....lost of threads regarding those, both w/ cadence and w/o.
with that said, i really like my sigma sport 1200 or the sigma sport 1600 which has a
cadence option. it is a wired computer, but it is simple and reliable. plus it can mount
to the stem which is nice.

Hi, you really do need to try saddles and eveyone will have a different opinion, but here is mine.
I have just got a selle italia prolink genuine gel saddle and I have to say, for me its the best money I have spent on my road bike in the past 5 years no doubt at all. However I was coming from a fairly rubbish, cheapo fitted as standard saddle. As I said you need to try some, but this one should fairly high up on your "to try" list. Good luck.

i'm looking for a saddle as well. i've been using a planet bike protoge 9 computer, no cadence, but it was cheap at jenson, around $20. nice computer, no buttons to futz with and nice big clear display.
I purchased a Cateye Astrale for $20 from performance. It has all the basic functins plus cadence. I'm happy with it. Great deal.
do a search for bike computers and saddles - there's tons of info already here.
there's a thread called something like 'what bike computer do you use?' with like 4 pages of stuff.
based on that thread me and a friend both got Cateye Astrale's. However the ones we got at Performance don't look as new as ones I see online, so check around a bit maybe.
cadence seems like a worthwhile option though since comps are still so modestly priced.

Saddles are so personal that you really can't get much from other people's recommendation. I hated the Body Geo so much I gave it away after two weeks (I had the cheap one, the "Sport," I think it's called). The padding was so soft it just crushed down to nothing and left me sitting on that uncomfortable shell. The guy I gave it to loves it, though. I have Brooks B-17 (all-leather) saddles on my two main bikes now, and I really like 'em, but they cost a lot and I know people who can't ride them.
As for computers, I don't see any reason not to go cheap. I don't see why anybody needs cadence (you can't tell how fast your feet are going around without a counter?)--all I want is speed, distance and maybe time, and you can get that anywhere for less than $25. One of my Avocets, the original Model 25, is at least 15 years old and still working.
I cannot recommend saddles for you becuase of reasons stated above by several posters...
For the computer, check out the sigma sport computers.. cheap w/ lots of functions..
