I would like to take a day trip to Lansing from Detroit. Does anyone know of a route that I can go to avoid that avoids the most traffic? Years ago I rode with MS150 to Michigan state starting in Novi but I can not remember the route. Traveling on Grand River is a bit much for me.

That's a tough one. You need to get south of I-96 and there are back roads like M-36 and others. Once you cross US 23, take 7 Mile Road into Northville. From there, it depends on where you are headed.

Thanks, Mike.

Thank you. I once went through Northville to get tto Michigan State on a one day ride.

I like the route to Pinckney. Then M36 out to Stockbridge, then M52 up to Webberville, then pick up rural Grand River into Okemos, East Lansing, and Lansing. I've just been driving those, and I think they'd be decent to great cycling. Haven't done the Webberville to Okemos lately, however.
