thats just what I have been looking for for commuting - the city can be a dangerous place when you are on a bike-I am going to get one

DO NOT GET ONE OF THOSE. They dont do jack ****, they are made for motocross riders to be protected from dirt and **** that gets flung up by tires. They wont protect you in a crash in any kind of way except if you slide for a long way, it would obviously protect a little from scrapes. I had one, dont get it.

well how about one of the hard shell protectors (defender or defender lite)

those work well, but Id rather have some body armor. those are designed more for roost protection as well, but theyll stop your spine from snapping over a rock in most cases Id guess.

Roost is the dirt that a motocross bike's rear tire sprays up. Rocks and other debris can be easily lifted in the air and shot at the rider behind, hence the need for "roost protection"
