It probably retailed for about $1K back in '78 so with inflation it's actually a deal today. Wouldn't work with my wife but maybe someone else will have some luck.... ;)

Pretty bike and in a "regular" size (happens to be my size too). Oftentimes the quality NOS stuff is really tall.

the NOS masis that were seen on e-bay recently.
Not my size and English aren't my style
(although I have been eyeing bob jackson and
Hobbs of Barbicon!).

That's some spoke protector, I'd have that off before unwraping the tubes.

I always watch for for this particular model Raleigh. I have seen them sell for $500-$900 & a few years ago a N.O.S. in the box Professional like this one sold for $1800 in our Seattle-Tacoma area. This sold last week for $516.00. I think that is the truly collectible Pro with the fully sloping fork crown, Brampton seat stay cluster, and nice, smooth lug work. The 78' Pro, while very nice, lost some of it's identity to me when they went to more a more generic fork crown and seat stay design. In addition, they eliminated alot of the nice lug filing they did on the earlier Pro's.

Nothing rides quite like a Paris-Roubaix Seta, the tire that came stock on the 76' Pro.

Raleigh Professional was nice bike, but not that nice. He has price set too high.

As I recall (and the age comes through here), the Raleigh Professional sold for around $750 back in 1978. I agree on the workmanship of the later bikes. My classic ride is an early 70's Falcon San Remo with a chromed sloping crown fork and chromed frame lugs. You just don't see that level of finish on bikes made even in the 1980's, let alone today.
