Southern California - I think this "Frazz' comic is appropriate for some BF folks

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

June 20 & 21 are the longest days of the year. Also posted in the "General Discussion" forum below

Very true! I still start most double centuries in the dark, but this time of year I can finish in the daylight, which is fine with me. I still pick up my lights at the light drop (usually at 150 - 175 mi. point), but I'm thankful when I don't have to use them.

So far: Cameno Real Double, Feb, Start and Finish in the dark

Solvang Spring Double Mar. Start in the dark, Finish in the light

Davis Double: May, Start in the dark, Finish in the light (barely)

Eastern Sierra Double, June: Start at dawn, Finish in the light!

Frazz is right!

Is it really the Solstice already?

I love this time of year for riding, too. I get to night time party rides while it's still light out ( no night time travel issues except coming home) and don't need a jacket all night.

And my daytime rides end while it's still light out, no worries about lighting hassles. Most of the time I don't start early enough that it's still dark out ...:D

I'm not really familiar with this strip. Is he supposed to be a grown up Calvin?

To me 'Frazz' is similar to Calvin & Hobbes and Bloom County, seeing as they all play (or played) off of society's mores and traditions, and events of the day. Frazz is a janitor at an elementary school who seems to be very "well read/well educated". The strip is based on his interaction with the kids and other staff members at the school.

IIRC, Frazz made BIG MONEY by writing a song that became a hit. After that he kept his day job.

Wikipedia, of course, has much more, including the comparisons to Calvin & Hobbes:

Hi,

I'm a big Frazz fan. The comic's creator, Jeff Mallett, also races bikes and competes in triathlons.
