Anyone else interested in doing a Texas Bike Forums team for the Livestrong Challenge?? We could also all recruit any of our riding buddies that don't post to join the team as well??? Just gauging interest here. I think that I am going to do this as an individual anyway but thought it might be neat to do on this forum and get us some jerseys etc. made for the event?? Maybe Love2Pedal would sponsor us or something and get us something cool printed up plus maybe some other folks that we all know?? Just an idea! Anyone interested let me know and I will request the info etc.

I have a team signed up. Since I am a Clyde, it is the Sizeable Cyclists.

Awesome name! I am currently a Clyde but moving rapidly away from the Clyde status so I am hoping by then I will definately be under...

I've signed up as an individual but will gladly consider joining up with fellow BFers.

I have a team signed up as well. Http://www.TeamRowdyRiders.com

if there are this many TX BF'ers riding we should all meet up before the ride.

I may be interested in joining the team. I was waiting to see if any of my coworkers were going to join, but I somehow doubt they will.

Daniel glad to have you on the team!! Looking forward to a great ride this year and hopefully our funds raised will make a difference! Maybe we could get together for a ride sometime. I would definately make a roadie down to Austin for a ride if you would like to be a tour guide for a guy from DFW! :)

I'd be game for a ride sometime. If you're up for some hill action, we could always show you the Dam(n) Loop.

I've been thinking about doing this as well. Might be nice to have someone to ride with. What distance are you guys riding? 90/65? I'm a flatlander (Beaumont)so I'm thinking 90 in the hills may be a bit of a challenge for me.

I am training for the 90 but we shall see. We don't have as many hills as they do there so we shall see I guess.

90 here. The profile doesn't look too terribly hilly. Just some short ones here and there.

What sort of pace?

I figure I'll average somewhere in the 18's.

I read a quote somewhere from LA that said that he loved the 90 mile route because of the hills. This is the area where he used to train regularly...
If you are close enough to do so, go scope the course out beforehand.

Well, I was going off the total ascent which is only 2700 ft. Over 90 miles that isn't too terrible. My normal route is about 2500 ft in 35 miles, so that's why I'm saying it's not too hilly. But that's just me.

My 40 mile saturday ride is 167 total ascent! so i'd say i'm a flatlander! lol

Haha.. Ok, yes, then I'd say for you it will be rather hilly.

Hey guys! I was thinking of making a trip down to Austin maybe the last couple weekends of the month... What works to ride with you Mr. Linux? Any weekend better than another?? Hope everyone's training is going well!

As far as I know, every weekend is free for me. I pretty much ride every weekend so any company is more than welcome. I've been joining the ACA Mozart's to Mansfield ride on Saturday's when they have it (usually every other week or so) which is a fairly tough 50 mile ride. (See link below)

But I'm up for just about anything. Let me know what works for you.

I am intrigued by the idea of doing this ride. Have any further plans been made as to what route you will run? If we are on a team, are we primarily running together as a paceline or what?

I could very well be up for it by then, but need more details to be sure.

WO2W - The team concept is just for fundraising purposes to recruit members to join the cause. The ride routes are all to whatever ability each person can complete. It is just fun to have other members on the team to train with possibly or ride with during the ride and fundraise. That is the general guidelines for the team I believe. Some teams create jerseys, t-shirts, etc. We could do that if we got enough people I suppose but I don't know where to order a jersey or how much it costs.

I'll mention it to my FIL. His daughter (my SIL) lives in Austin and a nice ride down there sounds fun.

Moving this weekend, so I'm sure to see him a bit. I'll mention it and see what he thinks.
