I'm bummed. I recently bought some Tektro R200 levers, and before I've even installed them, Tektro has replaced them with a new design! Does anyone know anything about them? I wonder if I should Ebay my still-unopened R200s and buy these.

I photoshopped a side-by-side. The photo of the new lever, on the right, is that of the short reach version, so do not compare the reach:

I'd keep them. They're brake levers...... not computers.. . . there's not much to improve upon. They both have a QR. The newer ones may be cheaper quality, that's the way it goes sometimes.

It's hard to tell from the photos if there's a substantial design change anyway -- even the weight is the same. The price may well have changed due to other economic circumstances, a lot of bike gear bumped up in price earlier this year. Chances are it's just a small tweak to the shape.

I wouldn't sweat it, unless you really want all-black levers instead of black/silver.

I've ordered some Tektro levers after finding out that they were the same as Cane Creek. One pair are R200s; exactly like Cane Creek SCR-5s without the flash.

Just last week I ordered a pair of RL340s on eBay for $15.00 new. I couldn't tell what the difference was online but that was what was available. When they arrived I thought the seller duped me and sent R200s. The back side of the levers even have R200 stamped on them. Once I held the new levers up to the R200s, I realized that the hood design is slightly different. They're "longer", resulting in a wider reach from the bar to the lever.

I don't think the 340 is at all similar to the 200, I posted some comparison photos (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/638015-Tektro-road-brake-levers-R100-R200a-and-R340-R341-size-question?p=12017362&viewfull=1#post12017362) in the mechanics forum earlier. I wonder if you did get 200's after all?

Sorry I never checked back here - I did get the correct RL340 levers in the eBay purchase I described above.
