Hello,
I suppose thread like this appear all the time, but I believe that each person has different needs and therefore all have to be treated separetely.
My parents are going to the US next month and I'd like them to buy me a bike.
I am going to use it in the city and to travel. I am planning a 4-5 months trip, so it should be very comfortable and resistant.
I am in a short-budget (let's say 500-700 USD), so I'd like advices on what to buy. Is it better to buy the separate parts or to just buy a "complete bike"?
I found Scott Sub 30 (http://scottusa.com/us_en/product/1667/11789/sub_30) and Scott Sportster P6 (http://scottusa.com/us_en/product/1668/11813/sportster_p6) and P5 (http://scottusa.com/us_en/product/1668/11810/sportster_p5). What do you think about those?
Another good option I found is Novara Safari (http://www.rei.com/product/775749)
Frame 6061 aluminum
Fork Chromoly
Crankset Truvativ Fire X 3.1, 48/36/26
Bottom bracket Truvativ Giga X Pipe
Shifters SRAM Attack
Front derailleur Shimano Deore
Rear derailleur Shimano SLX Shadow
Rear cogs SRAM PG-950 11-34, 9-speed
Brakes Shimano M416 mechanical disc
Brake levers Shimano Deore
Rims Alex DP-17
Front hub Shimano M475 disc
Rear hub Shimano M475 disc
Tires Vittoria Randonneur, 700x48 / 26x1.75
Handlebar Safari
Stem ATS adjustable
Seat post Kalloy microadjustable
Saddle Fizik Nisene
Pedals Platform with toe clip
Headset Semi cartridge
Chain Shimano HG53
Advices would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
