Northeast - gwb pathway closed?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
so it's about 9am and the gwb pathway is closed.. Is this normal? Thought it only closed overnight.

Are both of them closed? You may have to cross over to the other side and climb a maddening series of stairs to get across...
southbound is closed.. didn't even know there was another side.

On the Manhattan side it's a stairway on West 179th Street that leads over and under roadways and eventually up to the bridge. PA really should post signs when they switch access.

They do. Unfortunately, as you would expect from the brilliance of the NYC traffic engineers, it's in an almost useless location.
It's near the entrance in 178th st, rather than back on Fort Wash Ave where it would save you the detour.

GWB southbound path is closed for the rest of the week, reopening on the weekend. There's no other information on whether it will extend beyond this week so I'm hoping it this will be the last of it for now.
