hey guys,
I know I should put this in the maint. section but I can seem to leave this forum ;). Had a question regarding my Specialized Sequoia Elite front brakes. They seem to be really noisy. Not squeeking noisy but almost like metal to metal noisy. It sounds like there sand between my pads and the rims. I have over 400 miles on it and thought it would break in but its still the same. I'm taking it to the lbs today to get adjusted and checked. Also thought of having them put on some kool stops if they have them in stock. Any experience with this type of brake behavior?

Put on some of the salmon colored Cool Stop pads. The stock pads Specialized uses are hard composition pads and noisy.
+100 on Kool Stops, I'd go with either the salmon or dual compound pads. As far as the noise, there may be some debris stuck in your pads, get a good light and check them while you're waiting for new pads (assuming of course your lbs doesn't carry them, none in my neighbourhood do, no matter how much I grumble to them about it)

Thanks guys. I called the local lbs and they carry the dura ace pads but not the kool stops. are the dura ace pads as good as kool stops?

are these front brake holders considered dura ace holders? i'm thinking of purchasing this set of kool stops http://www.biketiresdirect.com/pkshdc/kool_stop_dura_cartridge_pad_holder_set/pp.htm
Sure look like it to me (there are lots of knockoffs that take the same pads as well). If you already have the holders, all you need are the pad inserts, like these:

i have about the same miles on my 08 sequoia elite and the fronts are noisy. i havnt seen any issue with them and they are good at getting peoples attention on the mup.
im curious to see your results.

Sweet thanks guys. I'll just order the set in case the holders are somehow different. If I dont need the holders, I'll hand it off to anyone who needs them for free.
BBeck,
I will definitely let you know :)
