Northeast - Annapolis, Arnold, Pasadena, Md rides

I'll be visiting Crofton Md. soon, and I'd like to do a 30 to 50 mile ride in the Annapolis, Arnold, Pasadena Md area. Since I'm from the Pa hills I thought it's be nice to see some shoreline Are there any route suggestions from the Marylanders?

Check the "Where are MDs people?" (or similar) titled thread. One of the frequent posters, NoRacer, has a blog with ride routes that you might be interested in.

I lived in Pasadena for quite a few years. I'm not sure how much riding you can do actually on the shoreline, but the B&A trail is a good jumping-off point for the City Dock in downtown "old" Annapolis; and, further south a bit, Thomas Point Park, on a peninsula surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay; and, a bit to the east, Sandy Point State Park (swim in the Bay, great view of the Bay Bridge.)

As the poster above recommended, post this on the "Where are the MD peoples" thread -- it's very active, and a lot of those guys are up on the latest route-making toys (me, not so much. :lol:) I do think I have a sort-of cue sheet for getting to Sandy Point, at least. I'll try to poke around when I get home tonight.

When will you be here? Maybe we MD peeps can organize a ride.

This is one of my favorite rides. If you want to see the water, its close at several points. There are a few rolling hills but nothing big.

Well, Sunday morning I started form Crofton.
Went down 424 about 3 miles till it goes over Rt 50. Then I hit the back roads.

I headed south east to Rt 2 South through Harwod until Rt 255. Rt 2 has nice shoulder but a lot of traffic noise.

I took 255 into Gailsville to see some water. Nice little town. Loved the dockside. Coming out of Gailsville I passed quite a number of cyclists on their way in. Apparently this is a popular route.

Rt2 south to Rt 422 west. 422 was the quietest road of the trip. It was like a private bile lane.

Then up the Patuxnt River Park via a number of back roads. When I got to Crofton I had 47 miles on the odd, so I did a loop on the Crofton Parkway to round it to 50 miles. On the Parkway, I road next to a 20 something skateboarder going downhill. She was thrilled when I told he she was doing 20 mph.

It's a really nice area. More traffic than I'm used to but the drivers were considerate. The woods have a LOT more old growth trees than our Pa woods. There were some beautiful, deep woods I passed through.
