Recumbent - A little vanity can be fun

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I hopped onto the Volae Tour yesterday after dinner and rode to a local burger joint that was hosting a "Cruise Night". There is nothing quite a satisfying as walking one's bike amongst all those Street Rods, 60's and 70's Muscle Cars, Antiques and Sports Cars with the Beach Boys and The Drifters music playing in the background and watching all of the attention of everyone you walk past drift to your bike. Hey, even all the other bike folks were mesmorized by that little blue bike. Hee hee, I know it's vanity and vanity is a vice...but was was still fun.

Fix up one of those little speaker systems to your bars or seat back and hook an Mp3 to it playing those moldy oldies.
Yep, I like the looks when I ride my RANS Stratus....or the other day I rode my home-made Ground Hugger, it is a real low rider...I too let a bit of the vanity show thru...but it is fun.

Any chance of pictures?
Gotta remember how to put one on here.
I made it way back when I was a kid...that is over 30 years ago. It is HEAVY and not as comfortable as I remember when I made it. At one point I had a 2-speed Bendix on it but now just a single-speed. Since I did not have a lot of high tech tools (lived on a farm) it is not beautiful but for me it was the cats meow. bout 10 years ago took it to a low rider show and they went crazy.....peace

Love the tractor seat. Here in Moline it would be John Deere green.
Our neighbors had John Deere we had Allis Chalmers, so I should have painted it orange...the tractor seat is probably the only thing of value about the bike.,.,.,other than the fact that it has a lot of sentimental value.
