Northern California - What will you do if BART strikes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I suspect that traffic will be a disaster, especially on the freeways and bridges. At least, this is the picture that is painted by the media.
I suspect that buses will also be packed.
If it happens, I think I will take the ferry from Jack London to SF. I do it once in a while now for fun and a break. It is almost empty when it leaves Oakland most days (it fills up at the Alameda stop).
Those of you lucky enough to be able to commute by bike will probably be fine. Car drivers and BART riders could be greatly inconvenienced. I suspect that many employers would let workers come in early or late to alleviate the usual "rush hour" crunch.
Thoughts?
I missed this... but BART is thinking of striking :( ???????????

If the unions are stupid enugh to go on strike during these economic times, maybe BART should pull a "Reagan" on them.
This is news to me. If it happens, my commute would get a lot more complicated (and sucky) than it's been for the past 5 years.

Triple whammy. Apparently:
they need to reach a deal by July 1;
fares go up on July 1 (not related to the possible strike); and
train service will decrease in September.
Wow. Tough times for BART.
I will get a much suckier bay bridge commute than normal, and no dilution by taking BART every other day. Might try to ride to the ferry - that could be entertaining.

During the last BART strike (10 years ago??), I avoided driving and took AC transit and MUNI. But my commute took from the normal of 40 minutes to 2 f**king hours.
If BART think it has money problems now, it won't have any riders left if the strike happens.

Gotta remember only part of BART's revenue is from fares. They are subsidized public transit system.
Also if your commute will be 2 hours instead of 40 minutes, then can we be sure that at least you will be riding BART again? Many people will be in similar situations.
