I had this white thing when I was about 11 or 12 called a "Savage Freestyle" (anyone seen this thing?)
Anyway My parents said it cost them a house payment. At the time that was like 500 ducks. Wouldn't ya know it got left in the front yard for like 45secs & the darn thing got jacked.

my brother used to have a Diamondback Viper. that thing cost more than our rent at the time. 500 bucks. then it was stolen. im just puzzled how they cut his bike chain. it was a Kryptonite brand heavy duty chain. and it was cut. then he had a Hoop-D stolen.

Everyone frequenting this thread seems to be about 3 years old, or they lost some spelling skill in a bmx crash.

One of these babies runs $1000-1500. As long as you have a 115V 12amp power supply in your van, you plug this baby in and it creates 45 tons (jaws of life typically produce 12 tons) of force. It'll snap that kryptonite chain in 10 sec flat. Give 5 seconds to open the van door, 10 seconds to setup the thing, 5 seconds to throw the bike inside and drive away and your bike is gone in 30 seconds.
Run around a city like NYC and you'll probably jack enough bikes in 1 afternoon to cover the cost of buying the tool, assuming you didn't steal the tool to begin with.

assuming its a bike chain it could have been relatively simple to break, sometimes there's a weak part where the chain connects to the lock.....and theives will snap it there, sometimes with their bare hands...... any u lock will do, and there are better ones out there than the kryptonite one....but you have to be spart about how you lock it up....sometimes all you have to do is take a part or two off to get the lock to slide right off....I've seen it many times....getting your bike stolen sucks, which is why I VERY rarely leave my bike unattended......

My bro an I only keep our bikes in our garage now. but his old Mongoose Hoop-D was stolen from our garage. no question on how that happened. he left the garage door opened so they just came in and took it. my damn dog just sat there, knowing someone was takin our stuff. since then, the only trouble was a couple of minutes ago. i fell off my bike and the handle bar left a big gash in my side.
