Hello new friends--

I am broke, in debt, and finishing up school in the Fall. Bought a department store bike today, the Schwinn Seneca. Don't know much about it, not expecting anything great, and am well aware of its deficiencies relative to what the 'real' cyclemen ride.

Nonetheless, I am grateful to be alive, healthy, and have a shiny new bike coming my way in 5 to 7 days.

I live in New Jersey. Have been on a bike since I was a yute, but only mountain bikes; riding around town and causing mischief. This is my first attempt at a road bike, am very excited, I don't know what to expect and I don't knkow what will happen from hereon.

I drank too much beer, up until yesterday, and now I am ready to rock and roll on a bike. I play recreational league basketball, where I am horrible winded and unable to contribute at the level that I used to be known for.

This is me, my story, what brought me to cycling, to the forums. Hello.

welcome to bikeforums and congrats on your purchase! I say any bike is better than no bike. as for getting winded at the courts, I use to smoke for 10+ years before I bought my first bike as an adult. Riding helped me quit smoking and regain the health I've lost. My lungs use to burn when I ride even for a short distance but now I'm able to do centuries (100 miles). Hopefully cycling can help you regain your endurance on the courts like it has for me in everyday life.

Awesome, man. Thanks. That's inspiring. I feel like I am at the cusp of great change, a great move forward.

Welcome. I am knew to biking since my youth. I also smoke. But I have noticed that I don't smoke as much lately since I have started riding. I am sure you will be able to regain the vigor you used to have.
