Hi All,

Was just on Thor's site today and noticed that the Speed P8 was listed as being included in the recent recall. The link mentioned in the PDF no longer works, however.

Does anyone have a URL I can use to check my serial? Or know of the specific serial numbers that are affected?

I doubt mine is affected, but getting a new handlepost for free is hard to resist :)

Also does anyone know where to get little bushing that goes inside the stem (looks like plastic). Mine is fine but has a bit of wear from me learning to adjust it properly.

Yes I saw that, but it seems like only certain batches were affected. This PDF (http://www.thorusa.com/recall.pdf) gives a URL (http://www.dahon.com/support/recall) that no longer exists to check the serial.

I already emailed my Dahon dealer about this, I was just wondering if I could check myself.

as long as your bike is in the list and the model year is 2008 it should be covered. check your local Dahon dealer and they will be able to work it out. what they will ask you is to bring your bike to check if it is part of the recall and if it is they will then order the parts and have you come back for repair. better yet call REI as they are an Official Dahon Dealer.

thanks,
vic

Looks like you would only need the serial number if you bought it outside of USA:

Update: Sent Thor an email last night, by early this morning he had arranged to ship the part to my LBS.

If only they could get the work done that fast (great shop but slow on repairs). Good opportunity to get my wheels trued though, and spend more time on my other bike.

Thanks again Thor!
