I have join the charity ride this morning...and....woow....that is the first and most embarrasing ride I have join. Actually it is not a ride but just public stunt by the politician.
All the bikes that involved (250) are expensive mountain bike except mine which was a cheap single speed road bike. Before the race, somebody was saying road bike are 'obsolete' bicycle and telling people how expensive and good his mountain bike is. So I got a bit angry.
When the ride start, I was the last 5 person at the end of the line. I pedal hard and in 5 minutes, I am the one in front ! Many mountain bike tried to speed up but they still can't match my old heavy touring road bike. After that, somebody scream and ask me to go to the back cause the person in front should be VIP.
I never knew that there are VIP joining it and I thought it is a ride all you can to the finish line kind of thing. So I go to the back of the VIP and ride until end of the line.
Anyway, I don't like that VIP since long time ago. So I guess it doesn't matter.
I got a free t shirt for the ride. Better than nothing.
