I need to sell a bike, so this one goes. '83 FUJI Touring Series IV in mint condition. It looks pretty much like new, although I have replaced the tires and tubes and taken off the generator light and replaced the foam wrap with cork. I don't know how much to ask for it though, any suggestions?

Wow, very nice. Can't help on a value, but I bet it fetches a pretty penny.

$250-$300 in my area. Maybe more in Portland Oregon.

I have a 1983 Fuji Touring Series IV myself. It is a very nice bike, and touring bikes are red hot right now. The series IV is one from the top of Fuji touring bikes (the best was a series V). Given you are in Portland, and the bike's outstanding condition, you might be able to get $350. Good luck, and let us know!

If that was on the Boston CL for $350 I'd be driving there know to pick it up. A Touring Series V just went for over $600 on EBay.

I had to chime in here. Living in the SF Bay Area and working in LA right now and searching both CL's for an 80's steel racer; I'd have to say that the prices for steel bikes is crazy right now. In either of these two markets, I don't think it would be unusual to see $400 being paid for an obviously pristine condition high end tourer. It looks suspiciously like a mid-80's Specialized Expedition that I have and saw someone selling a similar Exp. for $800.

Yes, it can get crazy, especially in the summer. Bike shops here in Portland have been swamped since the first really nice spring day we had in April. I hate to sell such a pristine bike, but I sort of need to. I saw the Series V that sold for $650 on ebay, and mine is just as nice maybe better. It has the bar-end shifters like the V too. There are two tiny paint scratches, otherwise it looks pretty much new. I will try CL first, then ebay if I must. I hope whoever buys it rides it!

Sadly, I saw one of those posted for $50 a month or two ago. I was too late.
