Northeast - Hey, why isn't DC on the list of options?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The federal District of Columbia is home to one of the most vital and active cycling communities on the east coast. Can we please get on the list of other NE locales?

@RedDeMartini: it's been a sore point here for years! And since DC has a lot of ties to both the north and the south, it's a conundrum.

Frankly, I think it would be best to break the lot into three:

1. Northeast (ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NY)
2. Mid-Atlantic (NJ, PA, DE, MD, DC, VA, WV)
3. Southeast (SC, NC, GA, FL)

But that's just me.

+1. Many of the forums I frequent have it like that.

That makes perfect sense. I wonder if the Administrators think the groups then become too small.

Since you asked, I bumped the Mid-Atlantic list to the top.
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=272080
Nearly 300 people on the list as of April, and I know several more have moved into the area since.

The subject of a separate forum has been brought up from time to time. When I ran the poll a while back there was general support, but not a lot of people pushing hard. There was some opposition, mostly "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but there were a few vocal opponents in the Baltimore area who didn't want to be combined with Virginia and the DC area.

One question was where to draw the boundary for a new forum. The name Mid-Atlantic was a problem. Could include NJ, PA, DE, MD, DC, VA, even WV and NC.

I kinda favor a Chesapeake Forum consisting of DE, MD, DC and VA. Keeps it simple and solves the problem of splitting DC area in half.

You're not listed in the northeast group? Where are you? (Or are you not listed at all?)

You could always start your very own DC-specific thread in whatever forum you want. The "Where are the MD people's" thread in the northeast section is very active. (Yeah, yeah, I know, "people's" isn't right, but we didn't start the thread . . . just hijacked it in a BIG way! :))
