I am a 51 year old general contractor. My wife and I have been biking recreationally for the past 4 years. The Chicago area is a great area for bicycling for people our age. It is mostly dead flat, with numerous paved trails. I look forward to reading and posting on this site, and learning from the more experienced bikers out there.
Later.

Hi. I like tailwinds, but always seem to get headwinds. It's my proof that there must be a Higher Power. Have fun, biking and buffetting that famous lake breaze.

Welcome. We have many folks in their 50's, 60's, 70's amd even 80's (I know of no one in their 90's on this forum, but there was a recent article in Bicycling about a 90-year-old rider who does about 25 miles daily) so you are in good company.

Hopefully you will come to like hills - of which there are not many in N. Illinois - lived in Mundelein for two years, never could find a hill. Hills are what get you in shape and challenge you.

My wife and I started biking some years back while in our late 50's, early 60's. We love biking.

Enjoy the forum.
