Soma Groove frame, with rigid Soma fork, outfitted with Shimano XT= $1430.00 Then I replaced the saddle with a very old Brooks B-62 and paid $10.70 for a new seatpost. But the Brooks Saddle came of a very old Ralegh that I bought for $20.00 and sold on Craigslist for $35.00, so the total price I'd say was $1430.00

My latest Bike, a HARO X2 was $940. Add the upgrades I already had, and it's value is now about $1300.

That includes Hayes DH hydraulic disc brakes (8"), Clipless pedals, a race seat, along with Sun's Rhino Lite rims, and tire upgrades.... Not to mention the air assist pre-load on my 'zocchi Pro forks.

I probably have the most expensive hardtail here as of today. Ordered a king steel set today for $130 and ordered a Thomson Seat post for $80. Was at $4,500 before those, now I am up to $4,710. Then there is my Stab Primo, which is 2,400 and is still just frame, fork, headset.

Well retail on my Breezer Jet Stream is $1900, however I just sold it for $400. My KHS Team HT would retail for about $2100. My wifes SS would retail at about $600 and her geared MTB at around $1800.

Too Much that's for sure!

Just in the last year, I've spent close to $3,000 on parts for my various bikes. Figure another $1,000 on supplies and clothing.

Purchasesin the last year include a new cassette, new chain, new cables/housing, new brake pads, new pedals (x's 2), new frame (Enduro SX), new frame/fork (IronHorse Sinister and Z1), new cranks (Truvative Hussefelt), new fork (another z1), new wheels (Rhino Lites), and a new rim when I tacoed the front, new headsets (x's 2 both Chris Kings), new front derailleurs (x's 2), new grips (x's 2), new handlebars, new seatpost, new saddle, new stem (one RF Diabolous, one Thomson), a couple sets of tires and countless tubes!

let’s see... i bought my norco fluid3 for $1050cad new off ebay. bought a load of new parts to upgrade to over the winter... installed some, still have some sitting in a box waiting to replace parts when they break or whenever i feel like putting them on. these include:

- front & back derailleurs, shifters (all xt)
- lock on grips
- holzfeller cranks (double w/rockguard) & some truvativ dh bb (not the gigapipe).
- holzfeller stem (came with specialized bighit oversized bar – off ebay)
- truvativ xr seatpost
- fizik nisene saddle
- tioga dh 2.3s

total spent on parts for upgrade, roughly $550cad (i think)... more parts to come too. just gotta take a break on the spending if i don’t want my wife to kill me. heh.

i’ve also spent a quite a bit on various stuff like tubes, tools (like tire levers, multitool, frame pump, etc.), a dakine hydration pack, 661 armour and fullface, and some other things.

Rasheed,

Gotta say, 1600$ total for that bike is a steal. You are killing the deals. That would be one sweet ride :D

yeah, now if only my bikemech friend would return my rear wheel (that he’s supposed to be truing for me and stuff) i could go out and ride... i haven’t really ridden since the winter weather really started to bite :( ... i mean, when the weather started to get warm here, i was able to go for one short ride looking for some new trails near where i live (but couldn't find any decent ones), took a couple runs down this small ski hill they got here and found some dirt jumps that i hit up for a bit - which was fun being it was my first time on djs... i didn’t really consider it my first real ride of the season... so i’m really, really itchin’ to go out and hit some of the trails i rode last year.

i also need to get a new set of brakes... these hayes mechs are killing me. you weren’t kidding when you said they sucked.

:D...I try not to kid too much. Yeah they are brutal especially for dh. You hands will start to really cramp and ache.

You ever do blue mountain? I hear its ok for dh. Keep in mind if you travel there are some ski hills that offer dh in Ontario. I also think Guelph, Fegus, Elora have a bit to offer for trails, there is some good advocacy going on there for xc trails. Its far but at least within driving distance to TO. :)
