Norwalk business owner upset by bicycle event

NORWALK

One lousy flashlight.

That’s all Jim Graves said he managed to sell on Saturday to bicyclists when Norwalk hosted the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure.

The owner of the Sears store in uptown Norwalk was unhappy with the bike event and blames it for his lack of business on an otherwise busy day.

I,m sure Berrys Resturant did well.Who the hell would be at a hardware store during a bike event?
In this present economy no small hardware store is prospering,or the pleasent city of Norwalk.How did this old crab rate news ink?

Lets see I ate at the Mex restrauant, and there were 8 in our party. I then stoped at 2 local bars for drinks, all 3 were pretty much filled with GOBA riders. Stoped in the bike shop to say hello, looking for a tool that no one has any more. Sorry but Sears was not on my list of places to go.

He sounds like one of those guys who never has anything positive to say, and always wonders "why am I suffering?"

I rode over to Elmore last Monday to see what all the fuss was about. There were a lot of people up town, all the businesses looked busy, except for the auto parts store.

I dropped money into the coffers of local orginazations supporting GOBA, Local Food joints, Local Watering Holes and all those people working in Norwalk, Elmore, Defiance, Flatrock, and a host of other towns are better off we came through. The Deputy Sheriffs working traffic details earning overtime now have extra cash to do what they please with- It may take a few days/weeks but the affect if us rolling through any of those towns was benificial to there botton $...

Sears Sucks- shut up!, I'll say it again, SHUT UP Sears dude!
I met so many nice and kind people on this tour (our first, and not our LAST :-) ) even my 14 yo daughter ended the week saying this was better than ANY OTHER vacationwe have ever done- including a 9 day Disney trip at the Grand Floridian with every nuance catered to us- roughing it, riding our bikes and meeting people trumped that!

since when does any self-respecting cyclist go to a sears store? they don't even have a bicycle department anymore.

hell, i work at sears and get a discount but won't buy anything for my bike other than a screw driver.
