Commuting - ways to mount 2 40oz klean canteens to a bike?

i got tired of the heat making my water taste like plastic (the heat heats up the bottle that badly) so i bought 2 40 ouncers.

i would like to mount them to my handle bars in a stable fashion. anyway to do that?

Those aluminum bottles will heat up way faster than plastic ones (metal conducts heat, y'know).

I stopped using my Klean Kanteens for the summer....I'm going to use Polar Bottles through the hot months and go back to the Kanteens in the fall.

There are coffee cup holders that mount on handlebars, but I don't know I'd they would be large enough. I use Topeak Modula EX Bottle Cages, and they hold my Thermos Nissan Backpack Bottle just fine.

The complaint is the taste from the hot water in plastic, not the hot water.

in combination with a bar-mount adapter? That's an awful lot of water to mount to a handlebar.

Klean Kanteens are also stainless steel, not aluminum and I find that they do not taste as metallic as other alum/stainless steel water bottles.

From looking at interweb pictures, it appears that 40oz are a reasonable height and the width is the issue.
Wal-Mart sells Bell Expand-a-cage, water bottle cages. The have an adjustable rubber strap holds the bottle in place. I used to use one for my coffee mug. I think they cost about $8.
You'll still have to pick up an adapter to allow for mounting to your handlebars.

I use only Polar bottles and they work great. Metal canteens will make the fluid way hotter then plastic unless the metal is a vacuum insulated unit, then you have a heavy bottle. The only problem with Polar is that the largest is 24oz. But you already have two sets of mounts on your bike for that style of bottle and you can get a third bracket that will mount a third bottle to a handle from Minoura; see: http://www.minourausa.com/english/accessory-e.html scroll down to bottle cage holder and you'll find different brackets for different applications. Most LBS sell Minoura or you can go on line.
