Rode over 500k last week then another 300 this week, then soccer game. Woke up Thursday morning thinking of going for ride till I rolled over to get out of bed and my legs said whoa!!! I have rode more than that in same time frame with no issues but did a lot of fast pace with a ton of climbing plus a very hard fought soccer game and my legs are screaming at me. Did a lot of stretches during time period and did some yesterday but still tender. I have a small window to ride on Saturday but think I'll take a week off and do some honey do stuff then get back at it. Do you think a full week is too long? Should I do some small easy rides to keep legs moving? I have 3700km for year which is almost as much as I've done ever for a whole year. Plus next month I have two 200k+ rides planned.

I think that taking some time off is a good idea. You legs NEED the recovery and they are letting you know it. I will take off 5 days at the most when my legs are shot, or life just has to many other things to do, with out any ill effects. As a matter of fact, I seem to come back stronger when I do this from time to time.
