Has anyone ever tried to get a pair of bibs repaired? I was in a crash and ripped a brand new pair of bibs. The rip is for the most part a straight line and is around 3 inches long or so.

Just wondering if it is worth trying to save them.

Seam or in the material? If a seam, then yeah, a decent seamsress may be able to repair them. If in the material off a seam, though, you'll be looking at a chafing spot and weak area.

Over the years I've successfully repaired a number of mountain biking related rips, stags and tears. Using nylon thread I've darned (for lack of a better term) the tear closed. Then, taken a scrap of lycra material approximately 1"-1.5" larger than the tear in all directions and stiched it to the shorts using a zig-zag stitch around the perimeter. This keeps the stretching load off the original tear. I've not experienced any chafe issues and most of the repairs have out lasted the rest of the shorts useful life.

I took a favorite team kit to a seamstress. The worn spot was not on a seam.. She said there was nothing she could do.. It's my Bonjour kit's jersey. , I wish it would be otherwise.. They are no longer available.

Sew it closed. Then sew a patch on the outside. Then sew a soft-touch patch on the inside.

It is not on a seem. I like the kit though so I may give fixing it a try to see how it comes out.
