Commuting - I lost my commute yesterday

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You know your a commuter when you get laid off and will miss your commute more than your job. Looks like it's time to start looking for a new commute:D
I'm looking for work, and my "commute" consists of riding to a local public library that has the best computer facilities in the area. ~8 miles round trip, or 10 if I take some less travelled roads. Tack on another 2 miles if I head further into town to have lunch or pick something up at the grocery or drug store.

Yeah good luck in your search!
We went through a re-org and a downsizing earlier this year. I'm one of the lucky ones who still has their job, but while things were up in the air I thought about not being able to commute daily more than anything else!

Where are you and what do you do? Post your info here and somebody might have a lead or two.
Good luck.

You mean you don't have to stop riding when you get to the end of your morning commute tomorrow? ...lucky you! :thumb:

Thanks for all your thoughts, a new job isn't that hard for me to find. But first I am taking a couple of weeks off to play hooky:rolleyes: My morning commute started with taking my son to his YMCA day camp, the coffee shop and grocery store...quite an enjoyable morning. My son really had a good commute also:D

We did some cutbacks a few months ago, specifically closing on Mondays. The way I spun it was “25% less pay, but 50% more weekend!” But on the inside, I was bemoaning the 25% drop in commuting miles.

Interesting way to think of it... I know on some days I had to fight really hard to NOT just keep going... you know those days... the sun and wind and road are just right, and the last thing you want to do is stop...
I have in the past done some touring between jobs, and the coolest thrill was going over that next hill or around that next bend that I had not done before... it is as if the rubber band just snaps and you get to keep on going. :D
