So, Dad, how was your Father's Day?
My weekend started with me mutilating my five year old. On Saturday, I decided to give him a trim and he was sitting still enough, but I managed to cut a small part off the top of his ear. His hair was hanging down over his ear a little and rather than bend his ear down and out of the way I just clipped with the scissors and caught a chunk of ear. He howled, woke up my wife (she works nights) and bled quite a bit for a while. He's ok now. However, if you look at his ear you can see a flat spot on the very top. Scarred him for life I guess. Made me think of that Johnny Cash song where the dad got in a fight with his boy named Sue and he cut off a piece of his ear.:)
Sunday, I got my Father's Day present. A 2lb bag of Reese's cups. The kid's and I ate through the bag all day. To offset the major increase in calories I didn't eat much for lunch. I drank several beers though. So, at 4:30 pm when the wife woke up I wanted to go ride. I downed a litre of water to pre-hydrate and left the house. It was pretty hot, no wind. Despite my beer and chocolate diet I managed an 18.4 mph avg on my 30 mile loop and felt pretty good about that.
Anything exciting going on at your house?
Great! Father's Day was my day to do what I wanted. Originally, three of us were going to do an unsupported century around Mt. Hamilton but one of the guys daughter was flying up from SoCal and couldn't make it.
Instead, I went out on a club ride at 0800. Rode 85 miles, climbed 5,600 ft, averaged 18.5 mph for the first 78 miles. Stopped at Peet's for a Mocha Freddo (w/extra shot) where I met up with my wife, hung out for a while with the remnants of the bunch before pedaling the last 7 miles home. Average speed dropped down to 18.3 mph, bummer! Got home had a beer (for electrolyte replenishment) and showered. Later, I fixed myself a nice cold gin & tonic. My daughter made me a cake and my wife and kids made and cleaned up after dinner - steak, salad, baked potatoes, nice glass of cabernet. After dinner we watched "Run, Lola, Run" which we received through Netflix. Lola's dad isn't exactly your role-model for Fathers' Day!
I'm a father-to-be...does that count?
Woke up, had breaky with my wife- she made eggs with spinach and cinammon rolls- and went for a ride. Went 18 miles and averaged 16.5 which is fine by me. I felt good and could have definitely gone farther but I NEED to change the saddle on my new Zurich. That saddle and I do not get along.
Showered, hung around for a half-hour and went to work where I got 2.5 hours of OT by standing around at a house fire (I'm a photojournalist at a newspaper).
Went home and went to bed... got a call this morning telling me that the Governor was resigning tonight so here I am at work early ready to stay late as this story develops.

Anything exciting going on at your house? I had a great time. Saturday we made the 3 hour trip to visit my In-Laws so we could wish him a happy father's day, and help them out around the house (they’re getting too old to do yard work). Had a great time visiting all the relatives.
On Father’s day Rosemary (wife) took us out for a special Father’s day brunch at the local restaurant - great food and live background music.
Then Lacy (my oldest girl) took me to play Miniature gulf (father’s were free).
Lastly Michele (my 14 year old) went cycling with me. We did 10 miles on rolling hills. That’s the second time this year she went cycling with me. We had a great time. I may turn her into a real cyclist yet! I’m going to start a campaign to get her completely converted – maybe find a used tandem.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the memories will keep me smiling for years.
Didn't ride on Fathers' Day. Instead, I stayed home with the Wonder Twins while my wife took her dad on a ride up the American River Bike Trail. Nice day for all.
Went for the 08:00 ride with the LBS crew. Went home. Played with the kids, watched a bit of the golf (U.S. Open). Cooked a stuffed pork tenderloin for dinner (my wife doing the cooking would not be deemed as a "present". Safer for me to do it :D). Drank a few beers. Did my ironing. Went to bed.
What is this "Father's Day" that you speak of ... :(
i know it's OT, but what a tease Mickelson pulled on us with that dbl bogie on 17. the door was wide open for him.
happy fDay everybody.

Did a 6:30AM saturday ride in the rain and wind. Went 62 miles by myself and averaged 17.6mph with two good climbs. Later that day went with the kids and the wife for an overnight stay at a nice hotel where we took the kids into the pool for the first time ... they had a ball.
Despite my chaffed a#* from riding in the rain, I did a quick 10 miles on Sunday before we went to my inlaws for lasagna ... yummy.
Nice father's day.

I have to say that I wasn't upset by the outcome. I was getting increasingly annoyed with that inane grin Mickelson wears all the time. Certainly made for good TV though.

That'd be great. definetly need more young cyclist like myself... Only see a few, and none of them were girls that be a first...
For fathers day I got my dad, also a cyclist a jersey, shorts and a headband to match.

Celebrated on Saturday. Did a forty-mile ride in the morning with the guys from the LBS. Came home got cleaned up and had a light lunch with my wife. Then in the afternoon my wife and daughter took me to an early dinner at a good Chinese place in Knoxville. My daughter gave me a new jersey, my wife gave me a new helmet, and the dog gave me a seat bag. Beagles really are amazing. To think she can surf the web... I'm just worried about what else she will buy now that she has my card number.
On Sunday I did the car cleanup and then just laid around the rest of the day. Nice just to do nothing for a change.
