does this mean our sport has joined the big time???

http://www.versus.com/nw/article/view/80761/?tf=press_center.tpl&UserDef=true

it will be fantastic on the overhead and scenic shots but i'm not so sure about the
crawling up the mountainside at 11-15 mph with buckets of sweat running down the
faces of the racers shots. still...an improvement.

...each stage of the Tour will be produced in full HD.

That does not mean that the "world feed" will be in HD, just that all the Versus production will be in HD. Versus doesn't create or control the live video.

OTOH, if the world feed is in HD then we get to see it. Keep your fingers crossed until it actually shows up on your screen. but don't hold your breath

Is Vs. allowing free viewing from VS.com? We have our TV off pending the move to Boston, but I'd sure like to see some of this?

One good thing Lance has done for the sport.

Good news.

yeah, love 'em, hate 'em or indifferent-ol' lance has indisputably improved tv/dvd coverage for cycling
in the united states. granted, i don't think any of us will be totally happy until every race is covered in
real time (what versus has done to the vuelta is a real disgrace; hopefully with the increased aso
ownership, prudhomme can give them some pointers on course/stage excitement to up the ratings
and demand). unless armstrong forms his own team and ends up being the de facto ds, i see the american
coverage dwindling down like it did 2006-2008.

Exit.

Hey bud, why don't you bring up Lance in another thread that has nothing to do with him? It's totally super cool and we're not tired of hearing it or anything.

TV coverage has been greatly improved because of Lance over the last 7 years.
VS is now even covering it in HD. Did you read the thread title?

All the races shown on Versus this year have been in HD, at least here in New England. How is this a surprise?

Oh, how I want the live feed to be in HD! The Olympics last summer in HD was like I'd never seen the Olympics before. Fingers crossed, but I'm honestly not optimistic that the motorcycle cams will be HD....

Right, don't hold your breath. French TV isn't budgeted like NBC for the Olympics.

And besides, how many get VS. in HD? Not many. I've seen HD, even had a HDTV when my tube TV broke. Nice, but not that nice. I returned it, and am TV free now. When I'm approaching $100 a month for a dumb-box, it's time to stop.

I didn't think the TDF could get any better but I have to say HD is soooooo much better. Makes me want to go back to France for another visit. The TTT should look spectacular.

Forget the TTT -- think about Ventoux!

I've seen these software programs for sale like ISoftwareTV that claim to have 3000 internet channels, one would think, if true, there would be euro channels with cycling tv coverage. anybody using one of these software apps?

Versus allows free viewing at a reduced resolution. But it is good enough to see what is going on most of the time. You can pay thirty bucks to watch it in higher resolution if your DSL is fast enough. Or 3 bucks per stage.
