God and Adam were strolling through the Garden of Eden one day.
Adam: God, I am lonely.
God: Am I not enough company for you?
Adam: You are ok and all, but something seems to be missing.
God: You need a companion. I can make you one and we shall call her woman, and name her Eve. But.... you need to know a few things first.
Adam: Ok, what is it?
God: I need parts of your legs.
Adam: What the? My legs?!?
God: Yes, your legs. As you journey through out the Garden, your companion needs to be able make those journeys with you and remain by your side at all times.
Adam: OK, if you say so.
God: There is more, much more.
Adam: OK what.
God: I need parts of your arms.
Adam: What for?
God: So this companion may gather food for you.
Adam: OK, sound reasonable I guess.
God: I will also need part of your brain.
Adam: For real?
God: Yes, this companion needs to be able to think like you, have the same ideas, and be able to have intelligent conversation.
God: I need parts of your eyes, so the sight of you is pleasing to her.
God: I need parts of your ears, so that the sound of thy voice is pleasing to her.
Adam: OK, but this is making me a bit uneasy.
God: There’s one last thing I need.
Adam: More?!?
God: Yes, last but not least, I need part of your heart.
Adam: My heart?! Come on God, are you serious?
God: Yes, this companion needs to be able to love and cherish you no matter what, forever and ever.
Adam sits down at this point and ponders what God has told him. He's not liking the idea of giving up so much of his own body. After a few minutes he asks; God, what can I get for a rib?
Now you know the rest of the story.
