Hi,
I was reading about the recent flooding on the Danube and saw a reference to the Danauradweg (Danube Bike Way).

This sounds really interesting. Anyone here biked this path and have any comments?

In Germany and Austria, it's probably the world's easiest bike run. The path barely uses the road (there is one small section and I think you can avoid it by crossing the river but we didn't have a map to plan that out ahead of time), there is a constant stream of towns/hotels/camping/food, you can hop on the train if it rains, there are lots of things to see and do. Of course the consequence of this is that it's packed, all the time. There are many groups on guided or supported tours, so many families. In the summer around towns, it's more weaving than cycling. Despite its crowded nature, we still found places to free camp along the path when it headed into more rural parts. Once you get into Eastern Europe, it's a bit of hit and miss. Sometimes there's a great path, sometimes not and you hit the road. Signage isn't always great. But people do follow the Danube all the way to the Black Sea.
I cycled it from Passau to Budapest as part of 1 trip, and Vienna to a bit beyond Budapest as parts of 2 trips (one tour to Istanbul, one tour to Vietnam).
It's a super nice bikeway, and highly recommended to all levels of cyclists.

Why do you say that? Is it just the lack of hills? I know people say it is an easy tour and can be busy but most people say the scenery is good. I am thinking of going along the rhine and then the danube to Austria.

we met two german tourists in france ,my buddy asked them if they cycled it ,they did but aldough great scenery ,they said to many people like cycling in the high street.
Boring? Absolutely for some, and challenging/interesting/scenic/sociable for others.
Some rather wonderfull aspects of the well ridden cycle ways (ex Danube), are the cycle centric infrastructures nearby and the wide range of skill levels/nationalities of riders. Yes the well known routes are very busy, even crowded, especially during tourist season, and weekends/near cities.

Yes, it's 'boring' in the sense that it's a very easy ride and your every need is catered for. On the other hand, the scenery is great, if you get up early you can avoid a lot of the traffic and you can cover big distances each day precisely because it's so easy. We had a naked man unexpectedly streak in front of us on the Vienna section, running from his beach towel to the nude bathing area by the river, so that part of our day on the path certainly wasn't boring!! :)
My wife and I did the stretch from Passau to Vienna and loved it. Yes, it's easy riding, but the scenery is beautiful.

I stand by my summation, the main memories of the Danube cycle path I remember are the straight, looong concrete paths on a slight **** near the river to my right (river view blocked by trees) and more trees on the view to the left. Forever. I decided to abandon the cycle path somewhere in Slovakia or Hungary, so perhaps I missed out on some nice part?
EDIT
Here is one of my pics from some part of it for an example:
