Road Cycling - OLN picture problems??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I turned on "Five for Lance" tonight on OLN and the picture was breaking up like a satellite problem. I experienced this watching the Giro and other races. Has anyone else had this problem?

I agree the Giro recap show had some technical difficulties. However the Five for Lance show tonight was fine on my cable here in Western NY.

It was fine for me too in Minnesota.
don't know about kingman but we had some big storms rolling through
yesterday may have affected transmission?

Maybe you were watching the "Cyclysm" promo? You know, the one where the picture keeps breaking up like there is a break in the signal.
Technically, it's your provider and not OLN itself.

If you have DirecTV, you might have some bad transponders. Specifically, there are probably 20-30 transponders (or more), and each one is responsible for a group of channels. Could be the transponder that's responsible for OLN has gone bad.
Most DirecTV receivers have some sort of test you can run that will test the strength of each transponder. You can usually get DirecTV on the phone and they can walk you through it.

Sounds like a testimonial for Comcast Cable.

I've had a problem with the Dish Network and OLN coverage. Dish guide says one race will be on, I set the recorder, and when I go to play it back, they've broadcast a different race. Missed several of the spring races this way.

Maybe... but I've been seriously considering dumping Cablevision for a dish since I can't get OLN, and I really want to see full Tour coverage this year.
Potential history in the making; God knows how many stupid channels, sixty-three home improvement shows running concurrently 24/7, nineteen hip-hop channels, but they don't offer OLN!!!
thanks. the frustrating part is that I have cable and have subscribed specifically to get OLN only for the cycling programs! Sounds like it's my service provider vs. the channel.

Not really. I've only had to do that when my DVR box was failing. It was the receiver the whole time; they just run the tests to isolate the problem.
Picture and sound quality of digital satelite is superior to anything else on the market.

Most of the picture breakup during a race broadcast is caused by interferance at the site of the race. The motorbike cameras transmit a signal to a helicoptor, but trees, buildings, etc. can block that signal, causing a tempoary loss of picture.
