Does anyone know where I can test ride a bianchi bike on L.I. (NY)? I've found a few places that are bianchi dealers, but none of them really keep any appreciable stock. one nice LBS w/ nice, helpful employees and a good selection of bikes said they decided to stop stocking them due to the decline in steel riders over the last few years and said that the frames were now made in taiwan/singapore and weren't as good as they used to be.

I am not 100% sure but I think Cycles Plus in Huntington has Bianchis in stock.

Sunrise Cyclery, on Sunrise in the Massapequa area carries Bianchi. They had a few road bikes last time I was in there.

Bike Junkie in Bethpage? I've never been there. -Might be worth a call at least.

And Brands of course, they've got more bikes of all kinds in stock than just about anybody. I bought a mountain bike there ten years ago. Today I use them to shop more often than to buy, they're just too far away for me to consider them my LBS, but they often have items in the store so you can actually see/try them without having to order sight unseen.

Bicycle Planet in Syosset and Brands in Wantagh come to mind. They both seemed to have a decent amount of stock (esp Brands) and both seemed reasonably helpful when I have been in there. Good Luck!

Sayville Bike Works is my local, very friendly and patient. Give Jeff a call and see what he's got.

Well, I bought my Bianchi Campione at Carl Hart in 2002, but I was there a week ago and they didn't have any on the floor. They said they still sell them however, so maybe if you have an idea of the one you want, they will order it for you. Country Time Cycles in Mattituck used to have Bianchis, but I'm not sure if they still do. You might want to call some of the larger shops that have been mentioned (also Frenchies in Huntington) and see what they can do for you. It's worth making the 6 calls or so.

As far as a Bike Forums LI ride...great idea, count me in...although this left knee started acting up again last weekend. Anyone doing the Gold Coast on July 11th? I'll be the guy on the celeste Campione who hopefully won't be rubbing his left knee.

I will be there on 7/11. I will probably be in the vintage Grey USPS jersey from last year's last Tour de France stage riding a 2004 Trek 2200.

Gold Coast is a yearly ride sponsored by the Huntington Bicycle Club. Miles vary from 25 to 100, and rides go through the affluent communities of the north shore. Very scenic, lots of mansions and scenery. Rides are a bit hilly (for Long Island), but not too bad. Here is the link:
