A bike I bought the other day for $3

I really like it's no nonsense "I'm Fun! Ride me!!" personality. I have no idea of the brand or year nor do I care..

I need another bike like a hole in the head but thats what the sickness is all about.

It's got a problem though. When you pedal the crank the hub turns about a turn or so before it grabs. Same when you brake.
Anybody wanna tell me how to fix it?

That looks like a coaster brake hub. They have a substantial amount of rotational play between full engaged brake and full engaged drive. Could be 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn. Might be what U R describing.
Wouldn't hurt to tear it down, clean, and regrease though.

Well, it cost $3. There may be some compromise in the mechanical function.

Think of it as turbo lag.

The body doesn't turn. Nor the internals.

It's turbo lag. Han Solo didn't just jump into lightspeed. He had to warm it up.

You should name this bike the Milennium Falcon.

Really? Naming bicycles is fun. And, although I really don't do much with pop-culture, I do find myself naming bikes after pop culture peoples... I had a really, criminally 90's Centurion, I named it the Fresh Prince, after, of course, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Even though they may do that, it's only because of poor adjustment.

I do believe it needs adjusting. It takes way more than 1/2 -3/4 of a turn to engage...
I guess I'll tear it apart tomorrow and see whats what
