Has anyone done this ride? I was at Crater Lake today and saw a couple of cyclists who mentioned the century ride. It looks real cool with some really challenging climbs.

I did it 2 years ago! Fantasic ride, well supported. The climbing isn't over when you reach the rim. Lots of climbing around the rim as well. None of the climbs are overly steep. It has a great finish - nearly 30 miles downhill to the finish.

I did this last year, best century ever. Great views, great vibe, only 300 riders limited so there's never crazy crowds. The best part: the Wubba's BBQ at the end was some of the finest damn post-ride food I have ever had. Man, I can taste it still!
Northbend's dead on; most folks thought the climbing was done when they hit the rim, but there's still approx 3500 vert ft of climbing left around the 30 mi rim road before you start down. That descent though is awesome.

I rode it last year as well. This is a great event.
Only complaint is that they could have used another water stop or two out around the rim - it was unusually hot out that day, and there's no drinking water available at the campsites.
But I get the impression they'll be better prepared in case this years' event is a scorcher as well.
I'm doing the event again this year, I just returned to cycling after a long respite after a crash so I'll be lucky if I manage to make it as far as the rim this time around. But I wouldn't dream of missing it. :)

I'd like to congratulate you all on not being the last rider home this year! That will be bringing up the rear on my superslow MTB with cruising tires. Good workout though :-)
