I've made a few threads on this by now I'm sure, but I still need assistance. I was going to get the complete Proper wheel, and then after some rethinking, I was going to get the Odyssey V3 wheel. Now after hearing some bad things about the Odyssey hubs, I was thinking of something else. I was looking at the Macneil hub, which is now $120 on Dan's. I would lace that to a Haz Light with Primo spokes. But I was also thinking of just going all out with this d*** thing and just getting the Ratchet laced to Haz Light, but money is kind of tight. Wth should I do?

The macniel hub is the same as the odyssey. just has different flanges. my ody hub has been holding for 4 years no issues.

I heard the engagement wasn't that good on the Ody hub.

Edit: I looked at the specs of the Macneil and Ody hubs, and the Macneil has 4 pawls whereas the Ody only has 3.

I hate the Primo. I know looks aren't everything, but that thing is horrible.

I'd save up for the ratch. Just cause you know you want it and in the end a better choice.

Yeah that's true too. But I was kind of worried about the engagement because that only has 3 pawls too. But I've heard 3 is actually better because all 3 engage where with 4 pawls, it's only 2 points of engagement. Can someone clear this up?

3 pawls are better then 4. With 4 only 3 ever engage anyway.

Alright that helps. So should I just get the Ody wheel?

That's what i would go with personally.

Alright, then that's what I shall choose. I think I'm going to go custom and get the same set-up, but with white spokes. It's only like $7 more. And I'm going to get a 10T driver and a 28T Odyssey Vermont sprocket.

I like the 10T because it's small, but my bearings won't wear out as quickly, my chain should last longer, and my cog and sprocket teeth should last longer too.

Yes, quite possibly. But, it's my money, and I don't have that much. I would definitely get it if I had the cash though.

So my decision is made now.
My new back wheel set-up will be:

Odyssey Hazard V3 10T (White)
Shadow 14G Spokes (Black)
Odyssey Hazard Lite Rim (Chrome)

I figured the Shadow spokes are probably better than Primo's, considering they're Swiss grade.
